We welcome you to the Kentucky State University Alumni Association's Frankfort Chapter! Our organization urges you to join us. If you attended KSU, if you graduated, or if you didn't attend at all but want to support KSU - Frankfort's University, then join us! All are welcome!
Kentucky State University alum and A Healthy KSU and DMTL founder Tyrie Nason Buchanan noticed a large number of his classmates and younger KSU alumni were losing their lives to health-related issues far too soon.
Buchanan made a pledge to do something to highlight healthy lifestyles while also promoting inclusivity for the entire African American community. What evolved from that pledge resulted in the creation of DMTL, a nonprofit based in Los Angeles, which has produced four years of events dedicated to health equity.
The equity and mentorship and bears the initials of Buchanan’s mother and brothers whom he lost to gun violence. A collaboration and partnership with the University, Alumni Association, and DMTL was born and evolved into an official 3K and Health Fair event.DMTL is a 501c3 nonprofit organization focusing on health equity.

Here are some important points to share with legislators and with friends and family who might help you contact legislators.
Kentucky State Univesity ranks 34th amongst the 101 Historically Black Colleges and Universities.
1. Students in the Kentucky State University Bachelor of Science in nursing program (BSN) recently earned a 100 percent pass rate on the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX).
2. KSU is home to one of the top aquaculture programs in the nation and is instrumental in the diversification of agriculture in the Commonwealth.
3. The historic Senate Bill 270 forged a partnership between Kentucky State University, Simmons College of Kentucky and West Louisville. Two of the main objectives of the initiative are to prepare more teachers of color and to help address issues of health education, wellness & food insecurity in West Louisville.
4. Due to steady enrollment growth over the last several years, KSU is expanding its residential housing options for students by constructing a five-story residence hall that will provide 408 beds, a dining facility that can accommodate 350 people, an expansive lobby, study lounges, offices/workrooms, recreational spaces and a multipurpose classroom in a living-learning environment.
5. KSU's Board of Regents created The Center for Research on the Eradication of Educational Disparities (C.R.E.E.D. Center). The center researches education disparities and ways to close educational gaps, as well as working to make KSU the leading university in the Commonwealth to provide educator training.
6. KSU’s Small Scale Farm Grant Program, which provides assistance to small and limited-resource farmers throughout Kentucky, was recently reapproved with an additional $990,000 in funding.
7. KSU received nearly $1.4 million in federal funding designated for 1890 Land-Grant institutions for multiple projects that will impact communities across the Commonwealth.
8. KSU produces an economic impact of more than $130.7 million to the Bluegrass Higher Education Region (which includes the counties of Anderson, Bourbon, Boyle, Clark, Fayette, Franklin, Garrard, Harrison, Jessamine, Lincoln, Madison, Mercer, Nicholas, Scott and Woodford).
9. The annual demand-side economic impact of KSU is enough to support 890 jobs.
10. Over the last half decade, KSU alumni added an estimated $30 million per year to Kentucky’s economy.
